Representative work

Represented EAPC and three of the company’s employees in a complex criminal proceeding regarding pollution in the Zin River as a result of a break in the company’s jet fuel pipeline.

Represented ICL in a motion for approval of class certification regarding water pollution in the Ein Bokek stream, which was recently denied by the Beer Sheva District Court.

Represented nine defendants in a huge precedent-setting lawsuit regarding air pollution in Haifa Bay, which is a mass environmental damage claim (toxic torts).

About the department

In recent years, environmental quality has become of strategic influence for many industrial and energy businesses, partly due to strict regulation and changes in Israeli society resulting from international changes (such as global warming).

Our firm’s environmental quality department is a pioneer in the field in Israel. The department’s team is highly experienced and represents the majority of the energy, infrastructure, food, waste recycling and industry companies in Israel, providing a variety of unique and dedicated services for this field.

The department’s team represents public, institutional, and private entities, including fuel and energy companies, waste recycling companies, local authorities, transportation companies, entrepreneurial companies, and more, in a variety of legal services, complex litigation (criminal cases, administrative petitions, and civil procedures), dealing with the authorities with regard to specific environmental requirements, assisting in locating and complying with all legal requirements, formulating and implementing internal enforcement plans, and regular legal advice with respect to environmental quality and safety.

We represent energy and infrastructure companies, factories and large corporations, among them: the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, Energy and Environment Institute of Israel, the Association of Oil Companies, Israel Corporation, ICL Group, Paz Group, Delek Group, Bazan Group, Chevron (formerly Noble Energy), Tnuva Group, Haifa Chemicals, Infinya Group (formerly Hadera Paper), Energy Infrastructures, EAPC, the Port of Haifa, Shapir Group and more.

The department is headed by Arie Neiger, who has been involved in the field of environmental quality for over thirty years, and has a unique specialization in representing corporations and officers in criminal proceedings for environmental offenses, in environmental class actions and mass tort claims.

Arie serves as the legal counsel to the Manufacturers’ Association of Israel, of Energy and Environment Institute of Israel, and of the Association of Oil Companies, and as part of his practice, he regularly represents the industrial, gas, and energy sectors in Israel in all legislative and regulatory proceedings in the Knesset committees and before government ministries, and also took part in all legislative and environmental regulatory proceedings in Israel from 1992 until today.

The entire team of the department is experienced and leads the legal work in this field and includes three former members of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
