Arie Neiger

Biography

Arie Neiger is a partner in the environmental law department at our Tel Aviv office.

Arie is head of the firm’s Environmental Department. Arie has unique expertise in representing corporations and officers in criminal proceedings for environmental offenses, in environmental class actions and mass tort claims (toxic torts). In addition, Arie represents petitioners in the fields of environment and energy in all courts, including the High Court of Justice, the Administrative Court and the Water Court, as well as in administrative proceedings before the various authorities.

Arie has rich experience in providing counsel in environmental projects, from the research and development phase to the establishment of the environmental infrastructures, in a variety of fields: renewable energy, wastewater treatment, recycling and waste, water and desalination facilities.

Arie represents leading and well-known bodies in the industry, including representative organizations: The Association of Manufacturers in Israel, the Israel Institute for Energy and Environment, the Association of Fuel Companies, and the Private Electricity Producers Forum. In addition, Arie represents leading companies in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, fuel and energy, food, metal and basic products, traffic and transportation, construction and infrastructure and waste treatment.

Arie is one of the first to practice environmental law in Israel. Arie was one of the founders of the nature conservation department at the Society for the Protection of Nature, and has been involved in the field of environmental quality for over twenty years.

Arie is the legal counsel to the Association of Industrialists in Israel, to the Israel Energy and Environment Institute, and of the Association of Fuel Companies. As part of these duties, Arie regularly represents the industrial, gas and energy sectors in Israel in all legislative and regulatory proceedings in the Knesset committees and before the government ministries, and was also part of all legislative and environmental regulatory proceedings in Israel from 1992 until today.

Between 1988 and 1990 he worked at the law firm of Fried Shriver, Harris, Frank & Jacobson in the US state of Washington, where he focused on administrative law. Upon his return to Israel, he established the Neiger-Levitsky law firm together with attorney Amir Levitsky, and during this period he specialized and gained experience in environmental law.

In addition, Arie lectures in a variety of courses and advanced education programs in the field of environmental quality, and has published many articles and legislative material on the subject. Arie is a colonel in the IDF, and served as the commander of a paratrooper brigade in the reserves and as a member of the Braverman Committee for reforming the reserve duty system.
