Biography

Yoav Hirsh is a Partner and Head of our Litigation Department at our Tel Aviv office.

Yoav has more than 30 years of experience in representing mostly large business and financial companies before all court, arbitration and mediation forums. He represents his clients in matters of complex litigation and also serves as an arbitrator in business-commercial lawsuits and as a mediator in class action suits in particular, including claims related to air pollution damages as well as consumer and banking issues. Yoav also has extensive experience in administrative law, particularly tender disputes.

He has represented banks, credit companies, multinational corporations as well as automobile and insurance companies as defendants in class actions and has an impressive track record in succeeding in the dismissal of class actions and other claims.

Yoav began his career by clerking for some of Israel’s most prominent judges, including Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Meir Shamgar and Deputy Chief Justice Miriam Ben Porat. When he joined the firm in 1988, he clerked for Dr. Mishael Cheshin, one of the firm’s founders who was later appointed Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

  • Provided counsel in a billion-shekel class action filed against a large insurance company concerning the insurance plan premium rates. After a complex legal hearing, the claim was dismissed both by the district court and the Supreme Court.
  • Acted for a well-known real estate developer that was sued by a large municipality for hundreds of millions of shekels. The lawsuit was defended successfully and he secured an award of costs of high sum (millions of shekels) to be paid by the prosecuting authority.
  • Successfully defended a large vehicle importer in several class actions related to the proper working order of vehicles.
  • Successfully represented large banking institutions in a long series of claims and class actions.
